Riverbridge Primary School

At Riverbridge we embrace computing and the exciting and innovating opportunities that it provides our learners. Each class has children's PCs, SMART Boards and Digital cameras. They also have access to a bank of laptops and 24 handheld devices (LearnPads).

Our school hopes to provide learners with the necessary skills to become digitally literate and to cope in an ever changing digital time by:

  • supporting pupils to achieve an understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts related to computer science and to apply this learning through abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation.
  • support learners to analyse problems in computational terms and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems.
  • help children to evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technology
  • support children to be responsible, competent, confident, creative and safe users of information and communication technology.

There is a progression of skills from year 1 to year 6 which explore a variety of technologies, programs and communication software.  We also follow the Surrey e-safety scheme of work which ensures that we encourage the children to be safe and responsible users of technology at home and in school.
