Computing

At Riverbridge we embrace computing and the exciting and innovating opportunities that it provides our learners. Each class has its own devices which includes and interactive SMARTboard as well as a range of iPads, Chromebooks and Laptops.

Our school hopes to provide learners with the necessary skills to become digitally literate and to cope in an ever-changing digital time by:

  • Supporting pupils to achieve an understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts related to computing, including key computing vocabulary, and to apply this learning through engaging units using the Purple Mash Scheme of Work, which is used to support Computing teaching across the school, from Year 1 to Year 6.
  • Support learners to analyse problems in computational terms and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems.
  • Help children to evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technology
  • Support children to be responsible, competent, confident, creative and safe users of information and communication technology.

There is a progression of skills from year 1 to year 6 which explore a variety of technologies, programs and communication software.  We also follow the Purple Mash scheme of work, which ensures progression of skills and knowledge from Year 1 to Year 6 which includes exploring a variety of technologies and computer software programmes.
